Hedge fertilisation
Oscorna Tree, Shrub and Hedge Fertiliser is a special fertiliser with immediate and long-term effects for all trees, shrubs and hedges in the garden. In addition to the core nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus and potash, it naturally contains a variety of trace elements.
Apply Oscorna Tree, Shrub and Hedge Fertiliser once a year (in spring or autumn) evenly to the surface around the crown area and, if possible, dig it in a little. It is advisable to water lightly afterwards.

New planting
A good start to plant life
Providing the best conditions from the outset not only makes life easier for your plants, but also for yourself. After all, if the newcomers grow well, this also means less maintenance. The choice of location, soil preparation and the right timing play a particularly important role here.
The right time to plant
Nurseries, garden centres and garden shops now offer trees, shrubs and perennials almost all year round. Nevertheless, plants take root particularly easily in their new location if the planting time is tailored to their life cycle. Only container plants can be planted all year round if the ground is frost-free and dry.
Spring planting
Spring planting is recommended for all frost-sensitive trees, shrubs and perennials. Plants need sufficient water to grow steadily. Water new plants regularly and sufficiently, regardless of the current weather conditions (10–20 litres once a week). The ideal planting time is from March to the end of April.
Autumn planting
When the leaves change colour and fall, the plants enter a period of dormancy. Even evergreens have now completed their above-ground growth. However, root growth continues: even in late autumn, the soil is still warm enough for newly planted trees and shrubs to start forming new roots. This gives the plant ideal conditions for spring growth. They will be better able to withstand dry periods in the coming year.
After planting, make sure to water thoroughly and regularly. Even in autumn, when rainfall is regular, targeted watering of trees and shrubs is very important for successful growth (10–20 litres once a week).
The ideal planting time is mid-October to early December.

How to prepare the soil for new plants
The soil for new plantings must generally be carefully prepared. Only in loose, humus-rich soil can the root system of plants develop optimally.
When choosing a location for your new trees, consider the final crown size: allow sufficient distance from the house and neighbours.
Preparation – manual labour required!
- Water the root ball before planting. Bare-root plants should be placed in a bucket of water for a few hours.
- Remove all weeds from the area so that they do not later grow into the rootstock.
- Loosen the soil with a digging fork. This improves the soil structure without disturbing the layers.
- Cut the roots of your new plant back by a third and remove anything that is dry or crushed.
- Dig a large planting hole so that all the roots can spread out well. The size of the planting hole should be at least twice the size of the root ball.
- Mix the excavated soil with Oscorna Soil Activator. For each planting hole, mix 200 g of Oscorna Soil Activator per 10 litres of excavated soil. For larger plants, use 20 kg/m³ of topsoil.
Insert plant
